History

On Friday, October 13, 1972 a Uruguayan plane, carrying 45 passengers to Chile, many of whom were students and players of a rugby team, crashed in the Andes.

Twelve were killed in the crash, the survivors had to withstand including the fearful Mountains, thirty degrees below zero at night and hunger.
They tried to resist with low food stocks they had, waiting to be rescued, but his hope fell when he heard a radio, which had abandoned the search.
Finally fed up with the extremely low temperatures, the avalanche threats, anguished by the continuos deaths of their partners and the bad rescue prospects, two boys decided to cross the huge mountains to reach Chile.

This is how the December 22, 1972, after being isolated for 72 days around the world finds out that sixteen beat to death in the Andes. These events led to the book and later the movie "Alive".

Itinerary

Day 1Reception at Hotel in San Rafael, accommodation, dinner. Chat with the guidelines and preparations for departure.
Day 2: Breakfast and departure combined to National Gendarmerie border outpost. Lunch in cattle since Araya, typical of the Andes. Start the ride with the crossing of the River Atuel. In the evening we set up our camp in the hamlet El Real. Dinner and rest.
Day 3Breakfast and departure to the Glacier Tears, the day this day will be very hard because after four hours of riding, we reached the 3,700 m arriving at the site where the wreckage of the plane, on the border between Argentina and Chile. Silent surrender our tribute to the victims and then make a site survey. Lunch. Down to Camp Royal. Dinner. Night.
Day 4Breakfast and disarmament camp. As we rode back to Araya. Lunch. Com Return to the hotel, taking in the way a thermal bath in the Old Hotel. Farewell at the hotel. End of our services.
